Casting Director Workshop

Six commercial casting directors in one night!

Show your talent and network with 6 commercial casting directors in this 90 minute Zoom workshop, hosted by Brooke & Mary. You will present yourself by reading copy in the relaxed and fun environment that Brooke and Mary provide.  All of the casting directors in attendance are the people who call actors in for commercial auditions at 5 of the busiest casting offices in New York City.  5 different offices!!!!

If casting directors don't know who you are and what you can do, how will they ever bring you in? After this evening casting directors will know who you are, what you look like and most importantly what you can do on-camera.  Brooke and Mary designed this night to offer you the opportunity to expand your knowledge of some of NYC's commercial casting directors as well as be seen, get recognized and GET CALLED IN!  

The evening will start with a short interview followed by 2 pieces of commercial copy, provided in advance.  Feedback and re-direction is given by the guest casting directors as well as Brooke and Mary.  There will also be an opportunity for an open Q&A discussion. You must have a headshots and resumes to attend.  You must have experience with commercial copy to attend.

About Your Instructors

David Bellantoni

Casting Director, Beth Melsky Casting

I started casting in Los Angeles in 1994 and moved back home to New York to continue my work in the business in 2005. I’ve worked on a wide variety of projects such as national network commercials, network promos, political ads, feature films, short films, documentaries, corporate industrials, music videos, PSA’s, webisodes and voice-overs for both TV and radio spots. Some of the directors I’ve worked with include: David Fincher, Tom Hooper, Tony Scott, Peter Berg, John Singleton, Doug Liman, Phil Morrison, and Errol Morris. I’m currently a Casting Director with one of the busiest companies in New York, Beth Melsky Casting. I’ve guest lectured at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, The Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute, The American Musical and Dramatic Academy, The Maggie Flanigan Studio, The Actor’s Green Room, The Actor’s Connection, ACT NOW, Weist-Barron, One on One and Paul Michael’s The Network NYC. I’m also a frequent contributor to Backstage’s “Commercial Break” Advice column.

David Morris

After 5 years at Telsey + Company, David has recently joined forces with Fay Grande to form Grande/Morris Casting. David casts on camera commercials, voice overs and industrials and is always looking for innovative, creative, new actors. Recent commercials include: Time Warner Cable, TD Ameritrade, Cognizant, Papa John's, Verizon, Ikea, Fanta, Stouffer's. David also cast his first feature film last year "No Retreat" which is currently in production. Most recently, he's cast short films "Brain Off" and "Feral Mix." David is an adjunct professor at Pace University and a proud alum of NYU/Tisch.

Fay Shumsey Grande

Fay Shumsey is the former in-house casting director for award-winning production company Hungry Man. Since starting her career at Hungry Man she has worked on many notable Super Bowl commercials and award-winning campaigns. Some of her most recent clients include American Express, Bud Light, Microsoft, NY Lotto, Kraft, and Snickers. Grande/Morris Casting specializes in commercial, digital, promotional, short film, and television casting. Fay Shumsey prides herself on constantly calling in fresh faces and new talent. She also hopes to one day be the star of her own hit reality TV show on Bravo!

Plans change, we get it. If you book a job or something else comes up we'll try to resell your seat if you notify us 7 or more days prior to the start of the class or workshop.
